Together in class we looked at identifying and evaluating information on effective management and leadership in our tertiary environment.
We first reflected on the practices that we have seen in our departments. I believe that most of us had the urge to heavily critique our seniors however common sense prevailed and we had a great discussion. Some of the questions that Kate tactfully placed before us had us thinking in a positive direction. It came down to a simple fact that we were in the course to learn about great leadership and quality management, what we could use to become efficient at our jobs.
Here are some of the questions:
What are the implications for you in your role as a leader in the vocational environment?
What do good leaders and mangers do?
Do we teach or educate?
We all agreed that Leadership is action, not position.A manager is a person who is capable to pick the right people and give them the opportunity to spread their wings.A competent manager/leader can make other people feel important and appreciated
